[Delaware] – SunnyMac, a trusted solar energy and roofing leader, proudly announces the donation and installation of a complete solar energy system at the Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington. This partnership brings together clean power and compassionate care, reinforcing both organizations’ shared commitment to supporting families and building a brighter, more sustainable future.

The 98-panel solar system, designed to generate 38,710 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually, marks a powerful step forward—not just in renewable energy, but in helping the House carry out its mission to the fullest. For the families staying there, it’s more than energy savings—it’s peace of mind during life’s most difficult moments.

The Impact at a Glance

  • Annual Energy Production: 38,710 kWh
Enough to power approximately 3 average homes for an entire year.
  • Estimated Annual Energy Savings: ~$5,800
These savings can be redirected toward supporting families—helping cover essential services when they’re needed most.
  • First-Year Impact Equivalent:
Offsets the cost of 1,500 overnight stays for families seeking support and comfort during their child’s treatment.
  • Annual Carbon Offset:
Prevents 27.4 metric tons of CO₂ emissions each year—the equivalent of planting over 450 trees annually.

A Legacy of Sustainability and Service

Over the system’s expected 25+ year lifespan, this donation is projected to deliver:

  • 967,750+ kWh of clean energy
  • $145,000+ in total energy savings
  • 685 metric tons of CO₂ offset

About Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware (“RMHC Greater Delaware” or “RMHCGDE”) serves families with seriously ill children by enabling access to medical care and providing a place that offers comfort, hope, and togetherness.

RMHCGDE’s programs and support services include our 50-bedroom Ronald McDonald House (“the House”), two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and two hospitality cart programs.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children who need a place to stay while their child receives treatment at an area hospital. A family may stay at our House whether the child is hospitalized or receiving outpatient treatment.
