Home Energy

One company for the roof, solar, heating, and cooling.

When more than one part of your home needs attention, one decision can affect another. SunnyMac brings roofing, solar, heating and cooling together so you can understand the relationships, plan around what is already there, and choose an appropriate next step.

How the systems in your home work together

Solar changes how your home produces energy. Heating and cooling determine how much energy it uses. The roof protects both the home and any equipment installed above it. Looking at those systems together can prevent conflicting upgrades, repeated work and avoidable costs.

Work out what to do first

Worth reading before you decide

Four things people ask us about constantly. None of them needs you to choose anything first.

What decides solar on your roof

The most common reason people call is an electric bill that keeps climbing. Solar fixes most of your cost of power for twenty-plus years while the utility rate keeps moving. What it depends on at your address is a shorter list than most people expect.

See what decides it

Roof and solar, and which comes first

The roof usually comes first, and how firmly depends on what is left in it. Panels last decades, so taking them off to reroof later means paying twice for the same labor — but a roof with years of life in it may not need replacing first at all. That is what an assessment settles, and it is the case where planning both together genuinely changes the cost rather than just being convenient.

How the two fit together

Batteries, and what they actually keep running

Panels alone go off when the grid does. A battery is what keeps the fridge and the well pump running, and it changes the economics — so it is worth deciding before the system is designed, not after.

Service for a system somebody else installed

We service systems we did not install, including orphaned ones where the original installer is gone. Panels, inverters, monitoring and removal for reroofing — you do not need to have bought from us.

How we guide you

Start with what you want to change, what is not working, or what you are considering. We ask questions relevant to that choice and explain an appropriate next step. You can keep your original project as the focus and add related interests only if you want to. The guidance is preliminary. Unless the current experience explicitly provides otherwise, it is not a diagnosis, quote, completed estimate, or confirmation of an appointment.
