Solar

Home solar, done once and done properly

Solar only pays off if the system is sized for how you actually use electricity and installed on a roof that will outlast it. Both are things we check before quoting, not after.

How the process runs

A site survey confirms shading, roof condition and electrical service capacity. Design produces a panel layout and a production model. Permitting and utility interconnection run in parallel, and they are usually the longest part of the wait rather than the installation itself.

What we look at first

Your usage over a full year, not a single bill. Summer and winter pull differently, and sizing from one month is the most common way a system ends up wrong.

Our solar and roofing installation and service teams are SunnyMac employees across Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and our heating and cooling teams across Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania — which is why one company can sequence a roof and a solar system together instead of coordinating two.

Which state are you in, and what changes?

Solar economics are set at state level. These are the four we install in, with the figures that differ between them.

Solar by state, as installed by SunnyMac. Figures verified 8 Sep 2026.
State Typical time to a powered system Average electricity rate SREC value Incentive programs
Delaware 15 weeks $0.16 per kWh Market-based, no fixed rate Delaware programs
Maryland 19 weeks $0.17 per kWh Market-based, no fixed rate Maryland programs
New Jersey 18 weeks $0.18 per kWh $77 per MWh New Jersey programs
Pennsylvania 19 weeks $0.17 per kWh Market-based, no fixed rate Pennsylvania programs

Time to power is the median from signed agreement to a system producing, measured on our own completed installs. An SREC is one certificate per MWh generated; where the rate is market-based it moves, so we publish the range on the state page with the date it was checked rather than a single number here.

Rate and incentive figures come from each state's official source: Delaware · Maryland · New Jersey · Pennsylvania
