What solar costs depend on in New Jersey

New Jersey electricity prices are among the highest in the region, which shortens payback considerably compared with neighboring states.

New Jersey incentives and rebates

New Jersey pays you per megawatt-hour your system generates, through the Successor Solar Incentive program — SuSI. The certificate that payment is made against is called an SREC-II, and it is administratively set rather than traded. SuSI, the ADI payment and SREC-II are three names for the same generation incentive, not three separate benefits. The residential rate is $77 per MWh for registrations received on or after 27 July 2026; systems registered before that date earn $85.

Alongside it, solar equipment is exempt from New Jersey sales tax under N.J.S.A. 54:32B-8.33, which covers systems providing electrical power — that is what makes a photovoltaic system qualify. Panels are also excluded from property-tax assessment. Neither is a payment.

How net metering works in New Jersey

Utilities we work with: PSE&G, JCP&L, Atlantic City Electric, Rockland Electric

Full retail net metering statewide. Credits carry forward month to month, so a summer surplus offsets winter shortfall.
